Statement from the Gidimt’en Clan: “We are people with laws older than Canada and British Columbia. We have protected who we are through all colonization and genocide attempts – reservations, residential schools, 60s’ scoop and divide and conquer tactics. We will keep doing it for all the ones yet to be born – for all of humanity.”
RCMP Raid Gidumt’en Access Point
On January 7th a team of tactical RCMP were deployed in Wet’suwet’en territory, where they forcibly removed Gitdum’ten people and supporters from their land in order to facilitate the construction of the TransCanada Coastal Gaslink Pipeline.
RCMP Occupies Gidumt’en Territory
Gitdumt’en Clan members attempt to reoccupy their territory and are encounter an RCMP exclusion zone denying access. RCMP threaten Molly Wickham with arrest.
Gidumt’en Checkpoint Dismantled by CGL
RCMP stood by as CGL destroyed buildings set up by the Gidumt’en Clan.
